Pookie was actually comfortable here.
Let’s go dass
Oh what a fun performance! I love both quartets . Wish I could have seen this live 🎉
The undertone at 35:00 oh my gosh
The Haps my always and forever favourites! Bobby was my Brother-in-law. A gentle soul. We all miss him. ❤
I am late to listen to this. What a beautiful sound they have. Every chord rings, just golden. I had to listen to If You Were the Only Girl (in the World) a second time. Does anyone know how things turned out for Uncle Mortimer?
Why is it left channel only? No sound on the right speaker.
Chair dancing to South Rampart. I can't not do it.
I hate to break it to you but as fun as that song may be, it actually has some racial history behind the song so its a problematic song. that is one of many problematic songs in barbershop that is no longer sung because the songs may have relations to the African American community, Minstrel shows and stuff
Bravo!!!!!
Does it bug anyone else that the stereo field is backwards of their standing arrangement? I’m hearing Jeff and Gary out of the left speaker.
Who says 'How does this start?' at 33:35 !?
Paps ❤️
My father sang barbershop for 30 years with the Cherry Capital Chorus starting in the mid 1960's. I've seen many international champions in my day. The Gentlemen's Agreement did their first show in TC MI. They came back years later to do their final show there too in about 1980. I think. They brought with them 5 baritones that had been with the group throughout the years. One song they sang as a finale had all 8 of them enter one at a time. They called themselves Pieces of Eight. One thing I often loved hearing is that 5th barbershop chord ring out. These guys do such a good job, esp with Kip being hospitalized most of that day. Amazing! Dad's been gone since 2003, but I think of him singing tenor everytime I watch these videos. He'd let me watch his 3 buddies sing around the piano weekly, as long as I didn't sing along when I was a little kid.
24:45 I love that chord sm
9:43 Tony’s 9
Soooo young.....
I love their version of Sing Sing. Sing.
Kipp, your last note in Time Goes By us just yummy. 🎼🇨🇦🎼
Still love them !!
Ron Pike is my grandad on the left
Thank you BHS for allowing me the first comment.- I believe, without any doubt in my mind, that this is absolutely the best barbershop chorus choreography I've seen since at least '62 or '63. Something about it actually enhances the musical part. Truly an inspired choreographer. I've been wondering for several years now where I might see your work...... Thank you.
These guys rock! ALWAYS impressed with Tony DeRosa's lung capacity!!
I'm so glad their taste in suits has improved in the last 15 years.
Wow, Tony. Just awesome. 🎼❤🎶
I can't get enough of these guys; they are extraordinary. Barbershop isn't such a big thing here in the UK; Old School could (and should) change all that at the drop of a hat.
Did that emcee say bronze medal champion?
Yes they won bronze the year before they visited the babs convention
@@steveboone1498 I think he's saying that you aren't the champion until you win gold
22:17 didn’t Rob Henry do that same joke with GHG?
I went to a HEP school and was coached by the GREAT Larry Wilson. Most coaches just say the routine remarks or just go thru the motions. Not Larry! He was all business! He got in my face and spoke to me...as a lead. Now I've been to many of those types of schools and events, and I appreciated every comment directed to me. But Larry spoke to me in a way that changed my life. I knew I didn't have "the Gift." But Larry gave me a focus that, in all my years of BBS, I ever had. Thank you Larry.
"Fair thee well love" is so beautiful
2:55 get serious 中式七和弦
Why no sound?
because you didn't turn your shit up?
Oh my god is that Emanuel behind the quartet on the right? I had a similar hairstyle in high school and I am still ashamed by it today. Glad he also had a moment of realisation. :D
That performance of Fare Thee Well, Love is just heavenly...
Who's arrangement is this?
The first show I was in, in 1982 in Colorado Springs (Pikes Peak Chapter), they were the headliners and had just won the championship. For a newby like me it was an amazing experience.
Who does the intro?
Matthew Gorman I believe it's Lloyd Steinkamp. Hilarious, heartfelt man.
Matthew Gorman Yes, it’s Lloyd Steinkamp. He was considered the Freddie King of the west coast. They were great friend and apparently constantly played hilarious pranks on one another.
I ran into Terry in 1983 in Maui on the beach. Great quartet and wonderful people
<3 <3 <3 <3
Is the Tenor the original guy?
yup
0:36 Be Our Guest 2:54 Cecilia 9:46 Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel) 14:16 Tonight, Tonight 17:18 Bring Him Home 22:58 Barnyard Symphony 28:31 Cruella De Vil 33:34 Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho
These guys were wonderful, trend setters and just plain good guys. I wish there was more video of them.
I was in the hospital all day.....amazed I had any voice at all.....I thought I was going to die at BABS!
Kipp you sounded amazing as usual! ❤️
Kipp - Your Bass Joe looks at you near the end of your last post with such pride. He knows he’s got one of the best singing beside him lol
Kipp. You guys are amazing. I would love to book you guys. Are you guys on instagram?
Awesome to see this. Old School and Ringmasters were there doing BABS and I was in the hospital all day. Rasmus filled in for me singing tenor and that was amazing. Can't thank him enough. And the went on to become AMAZING champions!!!
Are you really THE Kipp Buckner? If so, may I take this opportunity to tell you how much of a fan I am? I'm also singing in a Quartet, but Germany doesn't exactly have a vivid barbershop scene, unfortunately. What advice could you give to barbershop beginners?
@ Thank you for such kind words and yes I am Kipp! Advice? I am happy to if you have a specific thing in mind? Like advice on songs? Singing tenor? What exactly are you looking for my friend?
@@kippb Thanks for the reply! Well, since our lead and bass (me) have pretty special voices, I'm mostly interested in working on a specific quartet sound. Sometimes I try too hard to emulate my role models, which is not a good idea. How should a quartet practice to develop a distinct sound that fits them best?
Awesome to see this. Old School and Ringmasters were there doing BABS and I was in the hospital all day. Rasmus filled in for me singing tenor and that was amazing. Can't thank him enough. And the went on to become AMAZING champions!!!
Professionally done, for an atheist (or perhaps >1).
baby ringmasters!!!!! i love rasmus's emo hair!!!
Am I the only one hearing the MEGA undertones around 35:00 ???
just heard it and came straight to the comments to find this!!
It’s even clearer on their recorded version. 🙂
Love "Paper Doll". P.S. In addition to Internationals, I saw Classic Collection perform twice; even sang bass with them doing the tag to "Songs Like Daddy Used to Play" (at an everglow).
8:56, Jeff makes the "Acoustix-Style"! (open voice)
I wonder where I can find their arrangement of Bach's feuge in D Minor, in the key of B which they flatten out from there.
